about

These songs are meditations on the extraordinary nature of "ordinary" life. They are a musical contemplation of the quotidian: a teacup, an evening walk, a baking misadventure, a view of the ocean-- The intricacy and mystery contained in these everyday experiences and objects are celebrated by the composer, as each piece invites the listener to explore their own conscious experience of everyday humanity, and to follow the song's journey into a deeper appreciation of the the universe we wander through.

I want to give a huge thank you to all my teachers and mentors over the years. I would firstly like to thank Callum Gracie who first inspired me to play trumpet and to listen to jazz recordings and to love the music.
I would also like to mention all the numerous teachers at the James Morrison Academy of Music that have provided me a path for me to explore both musically and personally.
A final big thank you to James Morrison who has inspired so many of his students, like myself, to dive into this music wholeheartedly and keep loving and playing this music with a sense of tradition and also pushing out into the future.

This recording was made with the assistance of the James Morrison Scholarship, and was originally recorded for broadcast on ABC Jazz.
